DKW Communications, Inc. was honored as the United States Department of Agriculture’s Hubzone Contractor of the Year for 2009 by the Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) at a ceremony on June 16, 2010.
The award recognizes DKW for the design, development, and implementation of the PHHRS Automated Classification System (PACS). This system allows supervisors to create individualized position descriptions (PDs) from templates. Supervisors customize PDs by choosing from lists of approved paths, pay bands, titles, specialties, and so on. PACS gives authorized HR personnel the ability to validate PD submissions, generate reports, and perform system administrator duties.
DKW implemented this web-based application within six months of contract award. PACS was the first application to use the enterprise-architecture security model of FSIS.
As said by Senior Vice President, Dustin DeFee, "Completing this project in under six months was quite an accomplishment, especially considering that user acceptance testing was done in Minneapolis in the middle of the winter. DKW is so pleased that the team accomplished this project for FSIS. I want to personally thank Bill Chin and his project team (Kwan Hwang, Sandy Bodek, Chris Bowen, Beth Bartel, and Heather Ferguson). Their ability to stay on track and on target to meet our customer’s goals was essential to the success of PACS."
